These artists created this abstract art using a new family of shapes called organic/free-from. They are the black ones. They had to draw straight lines with a ruler to create many of the geometric shapes. The black, organic shapes were made with a coffee stirrer stick and black paint.
This project was inspired by a song and a book by Dolly Parton called
"Coat of Many Colors". The first-graders created self-portraits
using coats, shirts, or dresses of many patterns.
Texture was the focus of this multi-media project. First-graders
created a textured water scene using salt on watercolor. They also
created fish and pressed textures into foil to created tactile
(or real) textures. Permanent markers were also used on the fish.
